Mark A. Payne, 39, of Shelbyville, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at Major Hospital. Born Oct. 18, 1971, in Memphis, Tenn., he was the son of John and Regina Sue (Johnson) Payne. Survivors include his father of Shelbyville; son, Devin Payne of Shelbyville; daughter, Kirsten Payne of Shelbyville; brothers, Charles Payne of Atlanta, Ga., and Shawn Payne of Salt Lake City, Utah; and sister, Jessica Klmea of Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his mother. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mark retired as a staff sergeant. He was scheduled to graduate from college this June with a bachelor of science degree in human resource management. He was an avid comic book writer. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. A celebration of life service will be  at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with military rites conducted. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
