Marilyn J. Joseph

Marilyn J. Joseph, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Indiana Masonic Home.

She was born March 4, 1952 in Shelbyville, IN. to Edwin "Bud" Etherton and Marjorie (Kehrt) Etherton.

Marilyn graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1970.  She pursued her passion for education at Indiana State University with a degree in Elementary Education.  She went on to earn her Master's Degree from Indiana University.  Marilyn was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ.  She was an avid I.U. basketball fan and also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts. She had a love for shopping and enjoyed being able to go fishing.  Marilyn also enjoyed running into all her former students and being able to catch up with them.  She loved being involved with her grandchildren's extracurricular activities.

She married her best friend Richard "Rick" Joseph on June 21, 1975 and they spent 48 loving years together and he survives.

She is also survived by her daughter, Megan Jeanette; her son, Adam (wife, Amber) Joseph; her grandchildren, Brody and Cole Jeanette, Emmie Lou and Gwenyth Joseph; her brother, Kehrt (wife, Jennifer) Etherton; her brother-in-laws, Alan (wife Imelda) Joseph, Bob (wife, Angie) Joseph; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, JoJo.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Horner and Rev. Bob Joseph officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
