Margaret M Keppel

Margaret M. Keppel, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born May 25, 1936 in Shelbyville to Frank Whitten and Mary (Barnhart) Whitten.

Margaret attended Manilla High School.  She was self-employed as a private duty nurse for 14 years.

She lived in Shelby County most of her life.  Margaret was a member of Town and Country Christian Church.  She enjoyed sports, especially watching the Cubs and Pacers play.  She also enjoyed listening to country music.

Margaret had a love for people and enjoyed visiting with them. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She married Stanley Hittle on March 2, 1953 and he preceded her in death in October of 1959.  She then married John Keppel on March 24, 1979 and he preceded her in death in July of 1992.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Martha (Dale) Phillips; and Mary (Kevin) LaRussa; her sons, Leroy (Bev) Hittle; Keith (Elissa) Keppel, and Gary Keppel; her sister, Betty Keppel, her brother, Gilbert (Irma) Whitten; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her daughter, Marilyn Murnan, her brother, Jake Whitten, and her sister, Donna Whitten.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Don Bennett officiating.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Margaret's family.
