Lucille I Swinford

Survivors include five children: Joan Alexander and husband, Scott, of Flat Rock; Max W. Swinford and wife, Marilyn, of Flat Rock; Betty J. Meek and husband, Steve, of Shelby County; Becky J. Gommel and husband, Steve, of Vallonia; and Bonny J. Temple and husband, Stephen, of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Weinantz; and one great-grandchild, Seth Higdon.

Lucille lived in Washington Township her entire life. She graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1933.

Lucille was a school teacher in the Lewis Creek and Flat Rock school systems.

She was a member of Flat Rock Christian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years.

Lucille enjoyed reading and photography. Her greatest enjoyment and blessings in life came from participating in church and family gatherings.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at Flat Rock Christian Church, 2854 W. Pope St., Flat Rock, IN 47234.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Kim Huffman, Stacy Pope Joy, Brian Ebersold and Steve Gommel officiating.

Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Lucille's honor may be given to Teen Expansion, Central Brazil Missions or Harvest Prayer Ministries in care of the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory in Shelbyville.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mrs. Swinford.
