Lova I. Engle

Lova Ilene Engle, 90, of Shelbyville died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Major Hospital. Born Oct. 22, 1918, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Charles and Clara (Hauk) Gaines. She married Hubert Engle on Sept. 25, 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1972. Survivors include her son, Gary G. Engle of California; brother, Bob Gaines of Evansville; and grandchildren, Gary E. Engle, Rick Merrick, Larry Merrick, Randy Byers, Bryan Byers, Dean Engle, Lisa Houser and Susan Weiner. She also was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Roberta Knockles and Sue Byers. Mrs. Engle had been employed in manufacturing administration. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Lodge No. 2695. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Robert Prather officiating.
