Obituary

Louis Marshal “Lou” Posz, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

He was born April 3, 1945, in Shelbyville, IN to Marshal Valentine Posz and Mary (Benifiel) Posz.

Lou graduated from Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1963. He began his working career as a buyer for International Harvester before starting at Knauf. While at Knauf, he specialized in Quality Control and retired with over 30 years of service. He was instrumental in starting the Knauf Retiree Breakfast Club. After retirement, Lou and Judy were dedicated to serving the children at the Shelbyville Boys and Girls Club. Their level of care and compassion was a blessing to not only the children, but also the staff that witnessed their generosity through the years. They both enjoyed serving and pouring into the youth of our community. Lou was a member of the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge #28 F&AM and he was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He excelled at Indiana Central Business College in the Senior Accounting program. He enjoyed his time coaching Babe Ruth baseball through the years and was even on the Board of Directors for many of those years. Lou was also the voice for the Shelbyville Golden Bears and enjoyed gardening. He was a man of strong family values and had a deep love for his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones, creating cherished memories and giving back to his community. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

He married Judith Anne (Wagner) Posz on September 26, 1964, and she survives. They shared 61 loving years of marriage together.
