Linda Ann Hampton, 70, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at her residence.
She was born on October 12, 1955, in Oxford, England to Herman Keith Cordrey and Patricia Maureen (Waine) Cordrey.
Linda graduated from Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1973. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Shelby Shifters. As TBPA Treasurer, A Transatlantic Brides club, meetings were held once a month with food, games, lots of laughter and memories. Many would bring dishes from England, Ireland and Scotland to share. She made her career in insurance, working at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Her attention to detail allowed her to excel with the company, ultimately becoming an account specialist and assisting with major accounts. All who knew Linda realized that she was in control. She was always busy working or organizing things. She enjoyed planning and organizing weddings and helping others out when in need. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she had a love for the Grinch. Linda also enjoyed shopping and hanging out with her classmates and close friends. Her greatest joy came from spoiling her grandchildren and making memories with her family.
She married Raymond Wayne Hampton on September 22, 1973, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2016.
She is survived by her daughters, Jodi L. (husband, Jeff) Hardt and Kelli S. (husband, Doug) Warner; grandsons, Nathan Warner and Alex Hardt; sister, Penny Poe; niece and nephews, Shane Poe, Trevor Poe, Clint Poe, Danielle Phares and Dustin Phares; sister-in-law, Angie Phares and her beloved dog, Murdock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother and father-in-law; brother-in-law, Frank Poe; 3 grandchildren, Grace Warner, Lillian Warner and Wayne Warner.
Visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Darla Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to her grandchildren’s college fund in care of PNC Bank account number 4743456664.
