Lillian Rose Vandenberg Dawson, 86, of Shelbyville died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Ashford Place Health Campus. Born Sept. 12, 1921, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Oscar and Hazel (Wise) Snapp. Survivors include her daughters, Donna (husband, Ron) Brown of Shelbyville and Jennie Huber of Indianapolis; sons, Gary (wife, Debbie) Dawson of Shreveport, La., Joe (wife, Christine) Dawson of Carmel and John (wife, Randi) Dawson of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dog companion, Molly. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Ms. Dawson retired from Standard Grocery Store, where she was a clerk. She attended Fellowship Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Shelby County, 425 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176; or Shelbyville-Shelby County Animal Shelter, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
