Katherine Gannon Mcbroom

February 25, 1924 — March 2, 2020

Katherine Louise Gannon McBroom, 96, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on March 2, 2020 after a long and fulfilling life.

Katherine was born on February 25, 1924 to Fred and Geraldine Frosch in Indianapolis. She graduated from Shelbyville High School and Lane Business College. She was proceded in death by her husband, John Gannon, her son, Fred (Jackie) McBroom II, her sisters, Romona Frosch, Sue Mitchko, Carolyn Schneider, and her brother Dale Brattain.

She is survived by her brother, Elmer (Sharon) Brattain; her son, Richard (EJ) McBroom; her grandchildren, Lori (Joe) Cowin, Fred (Carin) McBroom III, Rob (Christine) McBroom, and Matt (Lucia) McBroom. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was involved many years with the Indiana Deaf School where she helped in co-founding their PTO in 1949. Late in life and after moving to Florida, she opened a ladies boutique which truly became the love of her life and she continued her passion for style and ladies fashions that she pursued until the end.

Per her wishes, there will be a private family service on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to the Indiana School for the Deaf, 1200 E. 42nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205, or to Breast Cancer through the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
