JoAnn Saunders-Hazelbaker, 62, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Franciscan Health Center, Indianapolis.

She was born April 25, 1959 in Shelbyville to Arthur Saunders and Lucy (Bassett) Saunders. Waldron Graduate class of 77'.

She enjoyed cooking and watching auto racing. Her greatest pleasure was being with her grandkids and Family.

JoAnn is survived by her sons, Valen Thurston II of Shelbyville, (grandsons Aaron McDaniel, Valen Thurston III and Korbin Thurston), Nathanial Thurston of Fairland,( grandson Theo Thurston); her sister, Janet Miller, her half-brother, Steve Tevis, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Fred Saunders

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home with Reverend Beth Crouch officiating.

Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery.
