Joan K. Eubanks, 69, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 at her home. Born July 31, 1940, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of John R. and Mary MeDora (Sexton) Tennell. She married James E. Eubanks on Aug. 1, 1959, and he survives. Other survivors include her daughters, Janet Kay (husband, Ronnie) Goodwin and Julie Elizabeth (husband, Norman) Jackson, both of Shelbyville, and Jaynie Marie (husband, Scott) Thomas of Edinburgh; son, Jamie (wife, Jennifer) Eubanks of Columbus; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jane Sue Burton. Mrs. Eubanks was a Title One teacher for Shelbyville Central Schools until her retirement. She was well known for her sewing capabilities for prom dresses and wedding gowns. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1963. Mrs. Eubanks enjoyed playing the piano and taking care of her cats. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Steve O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
