Jay Lee Griffith

Jay Lee Griffith Jr., 37, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

He was born October 18, 1984 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Jay Griffith Sr. and DiAnn Griffith (Trueblood) and they survive.

Jay married Tara Griffith (Laird) on May 19, 2012. They spent 10 wonderful years together and she survives.

Jay graduated from Morristown High School in 2003. He began his law enforcement career in 2004. In 2013, he started with the Shelby County Sherriff's Department as a Deputy Sherriff. He loved to ride his motorcycle and to travel all over with his wife. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He also enjoyed building things even if they weren't always square. His favorite times were spent making memories with his family and friends.

He is also survived by sister, Roseann Biddle (husband, Nathan), brother, Jason Griffith (wife, Heather), sister, Robyn Abrams (husband, Drew), paternal grandparents, Karen and William Griffith, nieces and nephews; Christopher Connor, Tony Connor, Hunter Biddle, Karmen McIlrath, Ethan McIlrath, Alexander McIlrath, Emily Griffith, Micah Price (husband, Adam), Abby Gobel, Alexandra Gobel , Kyra Springman, Parker Springman, Logan Vogler, brother-in-law, Aaron Gobel (wife, Teresa), brother-in-law, Jay Springman Jr., mother-in-law and father-in-law, Tony and Kerri Laird, along with their beloved dogs, Greta and Gus.

He is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Briana Springman, and maternal grandparents, George and Gloria Trueblood.

A memorial service will be held at the F.O.P. Lodge 84, 1237 Knightstown Rd. Shelbyville, IN. 46176 on Monday, September, 12, 2022 at 5 p.m., with Ross Stackhouse officiating.

There will be a gathering of friends and family to follow directly after.
