Janeth Rae Sloan

Janeth Rae (Krause) Sloan, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Ashford Place Health Campus.

She was born November 1, 1937 in Panora, Iowa to Frank and Katherine Krause.

Janeth attended Town and County Christian Church.  Jan's generosity was known through her volunteer work at her church and Wheeler Mission.  She always had a smile and a kind word to share.  Her kindness extended to all of God's creatures, as she loved watching and caring for local wildlife and her rescue animals, Jack and Molly.  Janeth and her husband Robert did almost everything together, including both being on hospice at the same time.  Due to Janeth's terminal illness at the time of her husband's death they chose to have a combined funeral service.

She married Robert Eugene Sloan on September 18, 1956 and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2023.  They enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage.

Janeth is survived by her son, Robert (wife, Jennifer) Sloan; her daughter, Kathie Mullins; her granddaughter, Heather (husband, Rob) Cook; her great-grandson, Alexander Owens.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene Sloan; her mother, Katherine Krause; her father, Frank Krause; her sisters, Bonnie Timmons and Viola Cowman; her son-in-law, John Mullins.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 11 a.m. to noon at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery with military rites conducted by our local Veteran Organizations for her late husband.
