Howard Howell

Howard "Whitey" Howell, 90, of Shelbyville died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at his residence. Born Nov. 9, 1920, in Indianapolis, he was the son of George and Grace (Mosser) Howell. He married Eunice Horsley on Nov. 17, 1937, and she preceded him in death. Survivors include sons, Gene Howell of Fairland and Steve Howell of Shelbyville; daughters, Carolyn Bender, Diana Davis, Gloria Edwards and Debbie Edwards, all of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Howell was a masonry contractor by trade. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Howell attended the Shelbyville Apostolic Tabernacle and held his church membership at Bethel Apostolic Church in Greensburg. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eston Poling officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by local veterans organizations. Memorial contributions may be given to the Howard Howell Memorial Fund in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville IN 46176.
