H. Steve Ray

H. Steve Ray, 56, of Indianapolis died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at his home. Born Oct. 7, 1953, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Max L. and Sara J. (Payne) Ray. He married Sandra Holderfield on June 13, 1998, and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Ezekiel A. Ray of Indianapolis; daughter, Hope C.R. Ray of Indianapolis; stepsons, Eric McCullough, Curtis Bottoms and Calvin Bottoms, all of Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Bobbie J. Garcia of Indianapolis; brother, Ralph Ray of Connersville; sister, Rebecca Ailes of Shelbyville; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Andrea Ray. Mr. Ray had been a welder and metal finisher, working at ICW, Indianapolis, and then at Metal Masters for 10 years, until retiring. He was a member of North American Hunting and Fishing Club. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodney Fee officiating. Burial will be in Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown, with military rites conducted. An online guest book can be signed at www.murphy-parks.com.
