George Robert Elliott, 84, long-time resident of Shelbyville, passed away October 8, 2026, at Morristown Manor.
He was born August 7, 1942, in Lewis County, Kentucky to Otha and Mildred (Ginn) Elliott.
George attended Lewis County High School in Vanceburg, Kentucky. He worked for many years with Detroit Steel before retiring from there. He enjoyed sports and was a true-blue fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. He rarely missed a game, and he could rattle off player statistics from memory.
George is survived by his son, Adam Elliott; grandchildren, Cherity, Kyra, Adam Jr, and Tyrion; sisters, Maxine Anderson, Othiea Elliott, Willetta Smith (Mike Bedwell), Lillian Persinger (Gary) and Naomi Moore (Darin).
He was preceded in the death by his parents; brothers, Charles Elliott, Roy Elliott and Doug Elliott; sisters, Hazel Polley, Jean Lanthorn and Jennifer Elliott.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 10 to noon at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home with Dr. Robb Barlow officiating.
Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Morristown Manor for the care and kindness they showed Geroge during his years there.
Thank you also to the wonderful staff in ACC at Major Hospital for the compassion and care they showed during George’s stay at the hospital.
To the team from Suburban Hospice, the comfort and support you provided George will always be remembered and appreciated.
