Gary L. Goodwin

October 31, 1960 — November 5, 2021

Gary L Goodwin, 61 of Shelbyville, formerly of Flat Rock, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at his residence.

He was born October 31, 1960 in Columbus, IN to Glen Goodwin and Ruth (Dawson) Goodwin.

Gary attended Southwestern High School.  He worked as a Steward at Indiana Grand Casino.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 70.  Gary was a big sports fan.  He was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, IU Hoosiers, and professional wrestling.

Gary had a big heart and cared about the people he worked with and especially his family.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Goodwin-Gum, his brother, Ronnie Goodwin (Connie), his nephews, Brian Slagle (Missy), Craig Gum, his niece, Erin Harmon (Scott),  his nephew, Ty Goodwin, his niece, Brittney Goodwin (Pat), his great nephew, Sam Robertson, his great nieces, Tatum Robertson, and Amelia Harmon, as well as several cousins and extended family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Carolyn J. Stewart, and his brothers-in-law, Robert Gum, and Joe Slagle, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4 pm. to 8 pm., Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, November 15, 2021 at Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Leslie Fix officiating.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Gary's family.
