Evalena Clements

Evalena Clements, 101, of Shelbyville died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Major Hospital. Born Aug. 9, 1907, in Switzerland County, she was the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Ferrell) Smith. She married the Rev. Halden H. Clements on June 9, 1926, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1979. Survivors include her son, David (wife, Janet) Clements of Cambridge City; and granddaughter, Tamra Clements of Williamsburg, Ind. She also was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Clements was a homemaker and had been a very active minister's wife during their ministry, including at Vine Street United Methodist Church from 1956 to 1970. She was a member of Vine Street United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
