Ella J Spencer

Ella Jane Sparks Kent Spencer was born January 8, 1926 in Crothersville, IN.  She passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 at Aperion Care of Waldron.

She married James Kent and was widowed on July 17, 1964.  She later married Sam Spencer and was widowed on June 21, 1984.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by her children Phyllis (Kent) Beal, husband, Gerald of Shelbyville; Donna (Kent) Petty of St. Paul; William Kent, wife, Leianna of Shelbyville; Melissa (Spencer) Smith, husband, Eric of Shelbyville; and Teresa (Spencer) Lochard, husband, Rick, of Rushville.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Andrew Beal, Phillip Beal, Garett Beal, Ted Wagner, Nick Wagner, Kelli Fannin, Brandylyn Hutchison, David Kent, Travis Kent, Jessica Smith, and Shawn Walton; 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Irma Markley, her father, Argus Sparks, her brothers Gordon Sparks and Gerald Sparks; her sister, Irene Markley, her grandson Gerald Beal Jr, her niece, Darlene Nickles, her nephews James Markley, and Ronald Markley, and her great-great-grandson, Lucas Dobbins

Mrs. Spencer was employed at W.S. Major Hospital as head cook for 25 years.

She was a member of the First Nazarene Church.  She enjoyed gardening.  Her most precious times were spent with her family and grandchildren.  She was well known for her amazing cake decorating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Steven Bohall and Reverend Donald Sawyer officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery
