Doralee Johanna "Joan" Emerick, 86, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Heritage House Convalenscent House. She was born Aug. 1, 1925, in Hope to William Herron and Kate (Miller) Herron. She was married to Maurice Emerick for 53 years before he died in 1996. Survivors include son, Morris (wife, Jayne) Emerick of Shelbyville; daughters, Pamela (husband, Jerry) Moore of Greenfield and Paula (husband, Ron) Comstock of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 27 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Marion, Virgil, William Arch, Robert and Paul; sister, Wilma Frazee; and infant children Clarence and Patricia. Joan lived a full life and worked at the Garmet Factory and Cinch Manufacturing before retiring from Wellman Thermal Systems. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing and reading. She was a member of the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary and Pocahontas Lodge in Marietta and the Royal Neighbors Lodge in Hope. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery.
