Delores M Hawkins

Delores M. Hawkins, 70, of Brownsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Sept. 9, 1942, to George Staten and Lucy (Shackelford) Staten in North Vernon. Survivors include three sons, Mark Staten of Shelbyville, Paul McDuffey and Thomas Sadler, both of Indianapolis; daughter, Yvette Gooding of Indianapolis; brother, Anthony Staten of North Vernon; two sisters, Betty Brown of Warsaw, Ky. and Bessie Green of Covington, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and ex-husband, Michael McDuffey. Her daughter, Micki McDuffey Brewer, preceded her in death on March 12, 1998. Mrs. Hawkins worked in the printing industry as an office clerk. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Shelbyville. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and friend. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tony Lambert and the Rev. Irvin French officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
