David Allen Watson, 61, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at Community South Hospital.
He was born May 24, 1958 in Indianapolis to Odus Watson and Betty (Burchfield) Watson.
He married Joyce Adell (Burnine) Watson on June 1, 1985, and she survives.
David is also survived by his daughter, Kelly Watson of Shelbyville; brother, Joseph (Debbie) Watson of Franklin; sister, Wilma (Jeff) Troxell of Rushville; sister, Pamela (Johnny) Poe of Morristown; sister, Debbie (Larry) Langley of Waldron; brother, Leon Watson of Geneva; sister, Helen (Mark) Gibson of Rushville; sister, Sandy (Tracey) Shaw of Flat Rock; brother, Mike Watson of Waldron; sister, Donna (Matt) Ford of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Tammy (James) Day of Waldron; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jimmie Watson and Odus Watson, Jr, 1 nephew, 1 niece, a brother-in-law, and 2 great-nephews.
David attended Shelbyville High School. He retired from Knauf after 36 years of service as a forklift driver.
David was a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in Waldron. He enjoyed going to bible study. He loved to work in the yard and around the house. He also enjoyed fishing. His favorite times were spent with his siblings, wife and daughter.
A private family visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2020 followed by a public visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, only 10 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a given time. Funeral home staff will enforce social distancing and monitor the number of people in the building.
A private family funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the funeral home with Reverend George Mitchell officiating
A public graveside service will then follow at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens and Crematory. Please follow COVID-19 guidelines and remain 6 feet apart or remain in your vehicle.
