David Lee Bennett

David Leo Bennett, 61, of Shelbyville died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. Born March 6, 1950, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Edward L. and Irma (Adams) Poole. Survivors include daughter, Regina Smith of Shelbyville; companion, Gladys Miller of Shelbyville; sisters, Linda Abrams of Waldron, Terri Ann Bennett of Columbus and Katrina; brothers, Michael Pool of Texas, Gary Pool of Middletown, Jimmy Pool of Indianapolis and Bobby Pool of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Brittnay, Dillion and Benjamin Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepbrother, Bruce Poole. Mr. Bennett had worked at traders Enterprises in Indianapolis for several years. He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. David was an avid admirer of vintage, muscle-style cars and was skilled at video gaming at its best. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Honors of Glory Veterans Garden at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to the David Leo Bennett Memorial Fund in care of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville IN 46176.
