Clifton F Prather, Sr.

Clifton F. Prather Sr., 75, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Major Hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1937, to James M. Prather and Opal Cleota (Burns) Prather in Mahalasville. He married Ellen Prather on June 28, 1963, and she survives. Other survivors include children, Clifton Prather Jr., April Prather, Scott (wife, Frances) Prather, Brian (wife, Carrie) Prather, James Prather, Crystal Prather-Wood and Tonja Tacini, all of Shelbyville; special grandson, Cory Wooten of Shelbyville; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Austin Prather of Shelbyville; and half sisters, Sue Emma Rominger of Florida and Erlene McGill of Brown County. He was preceded in death by his parents and special sister, Minta Gennicks. Mr. Prather was a brick mason. He was an avid golfer. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville. Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart H.
