Cathy Louise Thom

Cathy Louise Thom, 72, of Shelbyville, IN, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at MHP Medical Center.

She was born May 18, 1953 in Culpeper VA to Robert M. Sandridge and Edith L. (Cavres) Sandridge.

Cathy graduated from John Randolph Tucker High Scholl in Virginia with the Class of 1972.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling around in the semi with her late husband.  Cathy was an avid animal lover, with her favorite being her cats.  She had a love for coloring and her love for animals really showed in her artwork.  She also enjoyed bird watching and feeding the birds.  Cathy was an avid reader in her down time but her favorite times were spent with her family and grandchildren.

She married David Howard Thom on April 5, 1985, and he preceded her in death on November 19, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Ashley (husband, Jason) Geis of Connersville; her son, Christopher M. Carr of Virginia; her daughter, Krystal Thom of Indiana; her grandchildren, Aliziah Smith, David A. Thom, Lillian Jones, Thomas Jones, Krystina, Katelynn; her brother, Robert M. (wife, Jennie) Sandridge, Jr. of Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and brother, David T. Sandridge.

A Gathering of Friends will be Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from Noon to 2 p.m.  at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN.
