Carl Richardo Mays

Carl Richardo Mays, 81, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Major Hospital. Born Oct. 9, 1926, in Shelbyville, he was the son of James Carl and Edith Marie (Kling) Mays. He married Edna F. "Tootsie" Hall on April 9, 1947, and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2008. Surviviors include his daughter, Carlo Jo (husband, Mike) Pearce of Shelbyville' sisters, Patsy Ruth Monschein of Fairland and Beverly Anne O'Neal of Shelbyville' and grandchildren, Michael C. Pearce and Courtney F. Pearce. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert "Bobby" Mays and Dwain Mays. Mr. Mays had been a union carpenter. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Mays enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and doing yard work. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Robert Prather officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. An online guest book may be signed at www.murphy-parks.com.
