Brett A. Shepard

Brett A. Shepard, 36, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at MHP Medical Center.

He was born December 18, 1989, in Shelbyville, IN to Jimmy Shepard and Lora (Burton) Bruner, but Russell Bruner was his father figure and helped raise him.

Brett graduated from Shelbyville High School with the class of 2008.  He was a skilled worker and excelled as a maintenance technician.  He was an avid sports fan with a deep rooted love for football.   He played youth football in Shelbyville and went onto playing for the Golden Bears in middle school and high school.  His favorite team was the Indianapolis Colts.  Brett also enjoyed fantasy football, golfing, playing poker and cooking.  His favorite times were spent making memories with his family and close friends.

He is survived his mother, Lora Bruner and step-father,  Russell Bruner; his life partner, Kylea Wilson; his daughters, Kinley Shepard, Emrey Shepard, Sophia Wilson, Delaney Shepard, Cora Shepard and Charlotte "Charlie" Shepard; his brothers, Brandon (wife, Tia) Bruner and Cory (wife, Kristen) Bruner; his cousin and best friend, Bryant (wife, Summer) Edwards; his aunt, Sharon West and his mamaw and papaw, Barbara and Charles Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Brittney Shepard Schrader.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
