Bobby J. Perdue, 75, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born April 7, 1933, in Portland, Tenn., he was the son of Mack and Amie (Hobdy) Perdue. Survivors include his daughters, Kathy (husband, Tim) Self-Willis of Shelbyville and Shannon Cotter of Lebanon, Ohio; brother, Billy Perdue of Russell Springs, Ky.; sisters, Ivie Ausbrooks of Portland, Tenn., Ann Richardson of Clarksville, Tenn., Maxine Owens of Franklin, Glenda Lynch of Dallas, Ga., and Wilma Reeder of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and friend, Lois Conger. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary P. Perdue; sisters, Thelma Millick and Gladys Vance; and brother, M.C. Perdue. Mr. Perdue had been employed at Western Electric Co., moved to Pompano Beach, Fla., in 1984 to join his son's business, Stardust Ceilings, and recently moved to Shelbyville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Perdue was a member of Sixth Street Church of Christ in Pompano Beach. He enjoyed country music and bike riding to the beach. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 136 E. Washington St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
