Billy J. Kelley, 73, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011, in Lancaster, Ohio. Born Aug. 18, 1937, in Shelbyville, he was the son of William E. and Florence (Richardson) Kelley. He married Carolyn "Jeanie" Asher, and she preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Jae Ford of Columbus; and granddaughters, Ashley Ford, Kelley Ford, Danielle Ford and Megan Ford. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Kelley; and a brother, Jim Kelley. Mr. Kelley was a former supervisor at Western Electric/AT&T in Indianapolis until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Kelley also was an owner and trainer of standardbred horses and was formerly the secretary and treasurer of the Indiana Trotting and Pacing Horse Association. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda, Ohio, and from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Murphy-Parks funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Norristown. Memorial contributions honoring Billy may be made to Pickering House Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, OH 43130. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.murphyparks.com .
