Bernard C. Ernstes

Bernard C. Ernstes, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Major Hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1934, to Albert Ernstes and Florence (Holderith) Ernstes in Shelby County. He was married to Wanda Barker on July 3, 1961, and she passed away Sept. 30, 2009. Survivors include sisters: Jerri Sullivan and husband, Roger, of Villa Park, Calif.; and Marjorie Long of Shelbyville; sisters-in-law, Zola Ernstes and Judy Fair, both of Shelbyville; and brother-in-law, William Barker. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Alberta Runnebohm and Evelyn Ernstes; and brother, Edwin Ernstes. Mr. Ernstes was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He worked for Naval Avionics for 31 years before retiring in 1989. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating. Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelby County. Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Ernstes.
