Barbara J Cassidy

Barbara J. Cassidy, 72, of Shelbyville died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at Kindred Hospital Indianapolis South in Greenwood. Born Sept. 28, 1938, in Wabash, she was the daughter of Clifford and Maxine (Easterday) Boring. She married George Cassidy on Sept. 8, 1956, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1992. Survivors include daughters, Kathy Holzhausen and Lynnetta (husband, Bryan) Hartung, both of Shelbyville; son, George L. Cassidy of Shelbyville; brothers, Charles Boring of Peru and Larry Boring of Lagro; sisters, Beverly Kernel of Kokomo, Carol Laycock of Peru and Patricia Smith of Wabash; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Kristopher Holzhausen. Mrs. Cassidy had been a baby sitter and home care aide for 30 years. She was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles auxiliaries. Mrs. Cassidy attended Shelbyville Community Church. She enjoyed dancing and playing bingo. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelbyville Community Church or the Special Olympics in care of the funeral home.
