Barbara Baumgartner, 80, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
She was born May 3, 1941 in New York City to Rocco Padulo and Ann (Cassidy) Padulo. She was raised in Chicago, IL, and was a graduate of St. Scholastica Academy and Michigan State University. Barbara married Donald I. "Boomer" Baumgartner on Nov. 15, 1974, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Krause (husband, Dan) Mages; her son, John (wife, Sally) Krause; and her grandchildren, Jacob Mages, Caroline Mages, Charlie Krause, and Max Krause.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, James "Rocky" Padulo.
For the last twenty years Barbara has worked as office manager for Shelby County United Fund (SCUFFY) and was proud to serve in the mission of advancing the common good in Shelby County.
Barbara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Anne Alter Society, and Shelby County Players. Her grandchildren, who call her Amah, were the pride of her life. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Mike Keucher officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to SCUFFY, 126 N. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176 or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, IN 47201.
