Obituary

Lee Tucker, 80, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Major Hospital.

He was born May 7, 1934, to Josh and Agnes Tucker in Shelbyville. He married Edna (Cox) Tucker, on May 14, 1955, and she survives in Shelbyville.

Survivors include: sons, Tony Lee Tucker and Troy Landon Tucker, both of Shelbyville; daughters, Terri Lynn Cooper and Tammie Lu Leggett, both of Shelbyville; sisters, Anna Lou Dagley, of Shelbyville and Florence Clapp, of St. Paul; brother, Bill Tucker, of Boggstown; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two baby sisters, and son, Tommy Tucker.

Mr. Tucker graduated from Fairland High School in 1955, where he participated on their track and basketball teams.

Lee worked at General Electric for 13 years as a welder. Then he went on to be a certified welder for Local 440 for 34 years, where he strived to always be the best at his work until his retirement in 1992. Then he began his second career as an assistant funeral director, which lasted for 14 years at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, where he worked beside his close friend Gael Coulston. He was a hard worker all his life.

He was a car enthusiast, with a great knowledge on all makes and models of cars. Of all cars, the Packard was his devotion.

Lee and his childhood sweetheart attended their first Shelby County Fair in 1950 and consistently continued to go for 65 straight years.

Mr. Tucker attended Grace Wesleyan Church.

He enjoyed singing and listening to big band groups. His favorite artist was Perry Como.

With all his accomplishments, he always made time for his children, which he cherished dearly.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory with the Rev. Robert Prather, Rev. John Hundley and Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks, Sheila J. Parks and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Tucker.
