Ermon Powell

Ermon Powell, 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Major Hospital.

He was born Feb. 14, 1937, to Sam Powell and Jeanette (Rice) Powell in Kentucky. He married Ethel Mae Harrison on May 9, 1958, and she preceded him in death in December of 2010.

Survivors include five children, Charles Ermon (wife, Lisa) Powell of Shelbyville, Artie Lee (Lorry) Powell of North Vernon; Adonna Mae (husband, Scott) Bradley of Columbus, Anthony Wayne (wife, Bridgett) Powell of Marietta and Vicky Lynn (husband, John) Holmes of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Everett Powell, Veta Bell, Louise Parker, Lorraine Bonfer, Rose Arkenburg and Pearl Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Cathlyn Powell.

Ermon retired from the Kroger Dairy in 1998.

He loved hunting and fishing.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Eversole officiating.

Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions may be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502.

Funeral Directors Greg A. Parks and Sheila J. Parks are honored to conduct the services for Mr. Powell.

Our deepest sympathy to the family on your loss, we wanted to come to visitation - Luscill started out and had to turn around and come back home, his truck wasn't cooperating on the slick roads!! Everyone is in our thoughts and prayers!!
