Joseph S. Higdon, 76, of Clarkson, Ky., died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at his residence.

He was born June 19, 1936, in Clarkson, Ky., to Archie and Edna Mae (Sims) Higdon.

Survivors include son, Rodger Martin; son, James Glenn Higdon; daughter, Cheryl Ann Higdon; son, Timmy Allen Higdon; son, Joseph S. Higdon Jr.; son, Troy Joseph Fuquay; daughter, Alisha Bledsoe; son, Travis Dwayne Higdon; daughter, Carrie Lynn Saltsman; son, Kevin McDonald; twin brother, Thomas Earl Higdon; brother, Ronnie (Marsha) Higdon; sister, Ann Higdon; brother, Robert Higdon; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; caregivers Candy Higdon, Bubba Donnie Higdon, Karen Higdon and Rookie; and special friends Emma Rafferty and Mike Thurston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bryan McDonald; grandson, Brandon Keith Higdon; brothers, Bernard, Charles Wilbur and James; and sisters, Irene and Nell Marie.

Mr. Higdon was employed as a roofer in the Shelbyville area for many years.

He belonged to the ABATE riders club.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the funeral home with Robert Prather officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
